Pounds and Ounces

Growing up in Wisconsin, in an outdoorsy family, you find yourself watching the weekend fishing show a lot.

So when someone is discussing the birth of a child and you hear that familiar cadence: "Nine pounds, two and a half ounces, twenty three and a half inches..."

You realize that only two things are measured in "x pounds and ounces, so and a so inches": fish and newborn babies. And you find yourself waiting for the third clause of the phrase: "caught on a." As in "caught on a Mister Twister" or "caught on a nightcrawler..."
