Electability: State By State Matchups

Electability: State By State Matchups

Political Insider's Matt Mackowiak looks at the frontrunning candidates in both parties and asks: who's capable of picking up which states? It still looks like an 18 state election, maybe a 20 state election.

He sees the big three Dems winning all potential matchups in Iowa and McCain as particularly weak due to anti-ethanol rhetoric from 2000.

A couple verrrrry iffy picks - Rudy wins New Jersey? Romney wins Michigan because his dad was governor 40 years ago? - put those two ahead of Obama, but Hillary and Edwards win all three matchups and McCain loses all three. Doesn't mean much but it's a fun game of rock-paper-scissors.
