Contrary Missouri Mules

Contrary Missouri Mules

Remember this morning when I said the U of Mo president job went to some duct tape guy and not to a Republican Congressman?

Change of plan.

University of Missouri curators today decided to start over in their search for a new president of the university system after their top choice for the job withdrew from consideration.

Curators aren’t saying whom they wanted for the job, but sources have told the Tribune it was Terry Sutter, 49, a former president of Tyco Plastics & Adhesives who graduated from MU in 1984.

Curators must be like regents although it makes the University sound like a museum. Anyway:
The only publicly confirmed candidate for the job so far has been U.S. Rep Kenny Hulshof of Columbia, who announced he was in the hunt after rumors surfaced about his candidacy.

A source said this morning that Hulshof has not withdrawn his name from consideration. Gov. Matt Blunt, who has appointed six of the curators who will select the next president, has endorsed Hulshof’s candidacy.

And that, of course, is why we here at John Deeth Blog care: special election next door to Iowa.
