Attention 3rd District Dems, Part 2

Attention 3rd District Dems, Part 2: Insider Support For Primary Challenges

Yesterday I noted that MoveOn is thinking about primary challenges to Democrats who aren't sufficiently anti-war. Now there's a couple incumbent House Democrats, tired of the whole party getting blamed for the intransigence of the Blue Dog Lieber-dems, who are also ready to take it to the base:
Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.) is encouraging anti-war activists to find challengers to centrist Democrats, with the aim of moving the party to the left and ramping up opposition to the war in Iraq, to the chagrin of top Democratic aides.

“You folks should go after the Democrats,” Woolsey said in response to a suggestion from an activist during a conference call last month organized by the Network of Spiritual Progressives.

“I’d hate to lose the majority, but I’m telling you, if we don’t stand up to our responsibility, maybe that’s the lesson to be learned.”

Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) also participated in the conference call, telling activists that any military success in Iraq is “unworthy of the sacrifice of military families.”

Wanted: peace progressive with Des Moines zip code. Willing to take on the entrenched, out of touch, and underperforming (Leonard Boswell had one of the closest races of any incumbent House Dem last time). Women and minorities encouraged to apply -- we want to get off that "only Mississippi and Iowa have never elected a woman" list" -- but the right white male, say, one who did surprisingly well in a bid for statewide office last year, would merit consideration (oh, I know you keep denying it, Ed...)
