The dynasty watch reaches the Beltway:
There already is chatter on some Iowa political blogs that Pat Grassley might follow in his grandpa's footsteps and run for the Senate, perhaps as early as 2016, when the seat will again be up and Charles Grassley would be turning 83 years old. Pat Grassley would be 33 by then, young for a Senate contender but well over the age threshold of 30 that the Constitution sets for U.S. senators.
Pat Grassley plays down this speculation, saying he and his grandfather have never had a conversation about any higher office and that it's "not anything I'm planning to do anytime soon."
