Ron Paul

Ron Paul Largely Ignored

Zero coverage of Ron Paul's on-campus appearance yesterday. Even the Johnson County GOP doesn't list this sitting Republican Congressman on their candidate's page, though they include John Cox who Politics1 lists with the also-rans like Saint Michael Jesus Archangel (R-Michigan).

The Gazette editorial board met with Paul earlier yesterday. He zoomed in on the usual don't-tax-don't-spend stuff that big-L and small-l libertarians love, but also had a solid war policy:
Paul strongly opposes the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. ``I would just come home. We made a mistake. We went in there under false pretenses. It's sad. It was not worth 3,300 American lives and 25,000 casualties. We need to change course. We're continuing to do the same thing -- send more troops. Just back off. You don't need any money for that.''

Speaking of largely ignored, Dennis Kookcinich is in state today. Closed sessions with state legislators, followed by the Jasper County Central Committee tonight.
