School Board Forum

School Board Forum

DI and PC give us a little coverage of the one and only school board forum. Most were cancelled after Rich Lipman dropped out, but there was time to reschedule one after Sam Garchik dropped in.

"The biggest concern is that there needs to be more communication and planning," he said. "We need to talk more about the tax. A lot of parents think the tax is regressive. We need a specific, solid list of places the tax will go.'

By February 13, the tentative sales tax election date, we'll know whether the Democrats earn the trifecta they kept talking about at the events I was liveblogging this past weekend. That'll allow folks to make an informed choice as to whether a regressive sales tax really is "the only way we can raise the money we need," or if they should demand a more progressive tax structure for Iowa.
