Habeas Corpus

Loebsack Targeted On-Line In Habeas Corpus Drive

A-list national blogs Kos, MyDD and TalkLeft say Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee are considering adding a restoration of habeas corpus into the Defense Department Authorization Bill being marked up today and Thursday. Not a question of votes as much as will. Matt Stoller at MyDD writes"
Apparently Chairman Ike Skelton has the votes but there are concerns about whether to have this fight now.

The most important members to contact are Ike Skelton, antiwar freshmen, and members of the Armed Services Committee.

That puts the target squarely on anti-war Armed Services freshman Dave Loebsack. A guy who wore an ACLU pin all day Saturday after visiting their banquet is likely to be supportive, but it helps to be able to tell your colleagues you got a stack of emails yea high.
