A few items I couldn't cram in anywhere else:

See you tomorrow at Connections, the city council candidate forum sponsored by the GLBT community. Seems waaaay early - filing isn't till August 13-30 - but moderator Carlton Blackburn, in a DI guest piece, is quite proud that the campaign is starting out in front of a GLBT audience. The interesting thing should be the hints of who's in the race, who's not.

Duncan Stewart, who really needs a blog, opines on behalf of Obama.

Hillary Clinton's campaign opening an Iowa City HQ this weekend at 353 E. College. Grand opening Saturday 2 to 3. It's the same building as Obama, but that's just reminiscent of the 2004 cycle in Iowa City. Dean, Kerry and Edwards were all upstairs at the Old Capitol Mall (now taken over by UIowa).

Nationally, Chris Bowers at MyDD looks at `08 Senate polling and says "Harkin is threatening to put Iowa out of play."
