Rudy, McCain Bail On Ames Buy A Vote Straw Poll
This is going to be like one of those boycott era Olympics - does someone still get a gold medal out of Ames if the Soviets and East Germans stay home? And did I just compare McCain and Rudy to communists?
Yes someone gets gold, because it's the only game in town. There's a shortage of hard news events in mid-August of pre-caucus year, and the straw poll filled that void. And filled Republican Party coffers (speaking of gold...)
Who wins? Dunno, but who loses is the Republican Party of Iowa. Oh, the hype will be there -- but some of the crowd won't. More importantly, some of the dollars won't.
