A Quick Narrative from Iowa City 10

A Quick Narrative from Iowa City 10

Hi from the Johnson County unity party. Turnout is up 40 to 50 percent in the Iowa City precincts and double in the rurals.

134 in Iowa City 5, the dorm precinct. Down from 320 in 2004, but it's break. 208 in Iowa City 3, the other dorm precinct. "A little less but not much" says Nick Johnson. "Students caucused" says Atul Nakhasi of the UDems. Hillary was not viable in either campus precinct. 171 turnout in Lone Tree, nearly double.

762 people in Coralville 6! At least three precincts over 700 and 5 over 600.

Obama seems to be winning everywhere in Johnson County.

The short version: We had 315 in IC 10. After the first round only Edwards and Obama were viable with HIllary and Richardson just close. Hillary quickly made it but Richardson struggled and never made it. Finally the caucus voted to cut it off. Four for Obama, two for Edwards, one for Hillary.

I just heard Biden and Dodd are gone.

More astronomical turout numbers on the Dem side. Newport Township over 500, rurals tripling and quintupling...

"20 years ago was when this all began," says an Obama supporter who was a veteran of Jackson `88.
