Where Have I Heard This Before?
"In recent weeks, thousands of Wal-Mart store managers and department heads have been summoned to mandatory meetings to warn that if Democrats win power in November, they'll likely change federal law to make it easier for workers to unionize companies -- including Wal-Mart."
Sounds like something I heard in History class. Oh, yeah. Now I remember:
"There were also reports that some potentially Democratic voters were intimidated into voting for McKinley. For example, some factory owners posted signs the day before the election announcing that, if Bryan won the election, the factory would be closed and the workers would lose their jobs."
Now we knew the forces of Republicanism were running an old-school campaign, but they're reaching back into the Mark Hanna playbook here 112 years here. As Bryan said "You shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns, you shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold," and it seems the nails are over in the hardware department at Wal-Mart.
