Thursday Tidbits

Thursday Tidbits

Johnson County Dems meet tonight at the Library, hoping for some actual news there. Here's the clippings to tide you over:

  • Press-Citizen -- hey, nationals, that's the Iowa City townie paper -- says it's fine with them if the students caucus: "We agree that presidential campaigns should bar their out-of-state, paid staff members and volunteers from participating in the caucuses, but students who enroll in Iowa's universities should be allowed to be full participants in the process." Which is all Obama's saying.

  • New Caucus 101 videos. Both are longer and more detailed than Hillary's.

Edwards has cartoons, and is a little retro-cheesy:

Obama intros it himself, but it's mostly hosted by Gordon Fisher (Check that Elvis Costello album cover behind him). Caucuses break into color preference groups (blue, green, etc. -- can Democrats actually say "green" in the post-Nader era?). Like Hillary, the school gym is unrealistically un-crowded.

  • There's still tickets for Oprah in Cedar Rapids, but in South Carolina they had to move it to a freakin' stadium.

  • Latest reports on Dave Loebsack's birthday fundraiser Saturday at the Teamsters have Edwards, Biden and Bruce Braley there...

  • Loebsack and Leonard Boswell are not listed on The Hill's list of "endorsements that would make huge waves", but Culver, the GOP congressmen, and the senators are, along with Bruce Springsteen. Bloomberg looks at the prospects of a Steve King endorsement and thinks Krazy King will go with the Mitt rather then follow his gut and endorse his buddy Tancredo.

  • Florida loses lawsuit in US District Court; court says the DNC has every right to take away their delegates. And if you haven't been reading my last several months of leapfrog coverage, CQ has a primer.
