Senate District 12
Registration: D 7585, R 18757, N 12155, total 38520, R +11172
Incumbent: Joni Ernst, R-Red Oak, unopposed
No legislative contests at all in these six counties.
Ernst,
who took over in the January 2011 special election to replace Lt. Gov.
Kim Reynolds, trades with Hubert Houser, getting Mills, Fremont and Page
in exchange for Adams and Union. Ernst keeps Taylor, Ringgold, and her
home base of Montgomery.
The district's shift west nets Ernst an extra 5000
Republicans, making this the second most Republican in the state behind
Randy Feenstra and moving it into don't even bother territory.
July 19 Campaign Finance Report: Ernst for State Senate
House District 23
Registration: D 4005, R 9810, N 6141, total 19967, R +5805
No incumbent, uncontested
Imogene
farmer Mark Costello easily defeated Raymond Chase of Glenwood 67-33%,
in a Republican primary that settled the whole thing in what's
essentially the Mills County seat. The turf keeps Fremont and loses
Page, putting the retiring Richard Anderson outside the new lines. It
also makes it even more Republican, as Costello gets the fourth reddest
seat in the state.
July 19 Campaign Finance Report: Costello for Iowa House
House District 24
Registration: D 3580, R 8947, N 6014, total 18553, R +5367
Incumbent: Cecil Dolecheck, R-Mt. Ayr, unopposed
On
Map Day Dolecheck was paired up with a fellow Republican. Richard
Anderson retired, but Dolecheck still got a primary. He prevailed 59-41%
over restaurant owner Jane Jensen of Clarinda. Last time Dolecheck drew
a Democratic opponent, 2008, he won with 60%.
July 19 Campaign Finance Report: Dolecheck for Representative
Senate District 12, House District 23 & 24: District of the Day 1 - 5/10/2011 | District of the Day 2 - 3/16/2012
