Johnson County Republicans Endorse No Sales Tax

Johnson County Republicans Endorse No Vote on Sales Tax

No shocker, with assorted GOP activists speaking against the sales tax at Iowa City and Johnson County meetings. But now it's an official matter of party policy:

Be it Hereby resolved:
We are speaking out in opposition to the May 5 vote to increase the Sales Tax by 1 penny on the dollar, or a 17 percent tax increase, And encourage all voters and office holders in Johnson County, whether Republican, Democrat, or Independent, to join us in "Axing the Tax," And further, to express that support by "Voting No on May 5."

Passed by the Johnson County Republican Central Committee at our regular monthly meeting on March 2, 2009.

In other action, the JC GOP picked Bob Anderson as their new chair.
